Pith & Co Studio

Our Story

A studio built on
deliberate practice

Pith & Co was founded on a simple premise: that interior design works best when it slows down — when the designer spends time with a space before reaching for a solution.

Who We Are

From Bangsar
with care

Pith & Co was established in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, by a small group of designers who found themselves increasingly dissatisfied with the pace at which interior projects were typically delivered. There seemed to be a persistent gap between the finished photographs and the way people actually felt in the spaces once the photographers left.

The studio takes its name from the botanical term for the soft, essential core found inside plant stems — the part that holds structure without being showy about it. That quality is what we aim for in our work: spaces with a clear interior logic, where the design decisions support the life happening inside rather than competing with it.

Since opening, we have worked across residential apartments, family homes in the Klang Valley, and a small number of boutique hospitality projects. Each project begins with a period of genuine observation — of the space, its proportions, its light at different times of day, and the habits and preferences of the people who will inhabit it.

We are a deliberately small studio. This is not circumstance — it is a choice that allows us to remain closely involved in every project we accept, from the first site visit through to the final finishing session.

"Good interior design is not something you notice immediately. It's something you feel comfortable in — and only much later begin to understand why."

— Pith & Co founding principle

How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to

These are not marketing statements — they are conditions we set for ourselves at the beginning of every project.

Site Observation First

We visit every space before drawing or proposing anything. Design without direct observation is guesswork, and we prefer not to guess with our clients' homes.

Written Documentation

Every design stage is delivered in written, annotated form — not just verbal instructions. This creates clarity for contractors and a clear reference point for clients.

Transparent Communication

We communicate honestly about timelines, costs, and challenges as they arise. Surprises are for birthdays — not for interior projects.

Privacy & Confidentiality

We do not share project photographs or client details without explicit permission. Your home is yours — including the design process behind it.

Material Longevity

We select materials that age well and hold their character. Trendy choices rarely survive the pace at which interiors are replaced; durable selections are more considerate of both budget and environment.

Contractor Accountability

During realization projects, we maintain close oversight of contractor work and address quality concerns directly — not through a chain of intermediaries.

Our Values

Design expertise built through years of careful practice

Interior design in Kuala Lumpur spans a wide range — from high-volume residential turnover to careful, relationship-focused studio work. Pith & Co sits firmly in the latter. Our practice is grounded in the belief that an interior should reflect the people who live or work within it, not the preferences of the designer alone.

Working across the Klang Valley, we bring spatial knowledge of the regional climate, light conditions, and building types that shape how interior spaces perform in Malaysia. This context — the afternoon heat, the monsoon rains, the scale of urban apartments versus landed homes — informs material selection, ventilation considerations, and layout decisions at every stage.

Our design process begins with observation and ends with a space that holds what was intended from the first conversation. We work with residential clients who appreciate a considered pace, and with boutique hospitality projects where atmosphere matters as much as function.
